Travel RN - Med​/Surg - Oncology

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 17-week night shift travel contract on an Oncology unit, requiring a minimum of 2 years of oncology experience and a GA or compact RN license.

Job Details

• Acute care hospital setting on a 29-bed inpatient Oncology unit (7th floor),

• Patient population includes acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, and end-of-life care,

• Outpatient oncology patients may be transferred to the floor to complete treatment when the outpatient area closes,

• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6,

• 3 nurse aides generally available per shift,

• Charge nurse is outside of the staffing grid except under unusual circumstances,

• Telemetry monitoring present via central monitor; ability to read strips is not required,

• EMR: MEDITECH,

• 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM,

• Every other weekend required,

• Holidays rotate with staff,

• Floating to medical acute is rare,

• 3-day floor-specific orientation provided,

Job Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required,

• Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience required,

• Required certifications: BLS (AHA); NIHSS preferred; ONS certification required if administering chemotherapy,

• Driver's license required for consideration,

• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for placement,

• Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible,
