Job Description

Summary:

Provides professional nursing care for assigned patients according to established standards and practices. Duties include assessment of patients, developing a plan of care, implementing the plan of care and evaluating the plan of care. The position requires a high quality of care in order to meet the Hospital’s core mission.

Qualifications
  • 2 year / Associate Degree in Nursing from a state accredited school (Required)
  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in from a state accredited School of Professional Nursing (Preferred)
  • Work Experience:

    1–2 years Nursing Experience (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications Required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current Georgia license
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained prior to completing unit orientation
Essential Functions
  • Assessment and Diagnosis
    • Collect data in a systematic and ongoing process
    • Identify issues and develop diagnoses based on assessment data
    • Prioritize data collection based on the patient’s condition and needs
    • Identify expected outcomes and plan based on diagnoses or issues
  • Care Planning and Implementation
    • Develop an individualized plan with strategies that address diagnoses
    • Provide continuity through a plan that directs other team members
    • Implement the plan in a safe and timely manner
    • Document implementation and any changes or omissions of the identified plan
    • Consult with healthcare providers and make referrals as appropriate
    • Utilize appropriate community resources and systems to implement the plan
  • Documentation
    • Document and submit required information and data in a timely fashion
    • Clearly and accurately document designated processes, policies, products, service offerings, etc.
    • Ensure documentation is tailored to expected readers/users
    • Use correct terminology and conform to required style and format
  • Outcomes and Evaluations
    • Develop expected outcomes that provide direction for continuity of care
    • Involve patient/family and other disciplines to determine expected outcomes
    • Modify expected outcomes based on changes in the assessment of the patient
    • Include patient and others involved in the care in the evaluation process
    • Evaluate the plan in relation to patient responses and expected outcomes
    • Document the results of the evaluation
  • RN – Quality
    • Use results of quality improvement activities in nursing practice
    • Use creativity and innovation to improve care delivery
    • Incorporate evidence based knowledge to initiate change in nursing practice
    • Participate in quality improvement activities
  • RN – Nursing ANA Code of Ethics
    • Accountable for individual practice and delegation to provide optimum care
    • Practice with compassion and respect
    • Advocate for the patient, family and community
    • Assure patient safety through competency and growth of self and others
    • Contribute to a healthy work environment through shared decision making
    • Collaborate with other health professionals to meet healthcare needs

  • Maintain current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (self‑education, ongoing educational programs)
  • Attend staff meetings and complete mandatory in‑services and competency evaluations on time
  • Demonstrate competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs
  • For non‑clinical areas, attend training and demonstrate usage of age‑specific customer service skills
  • Wear protective clothing and equipment as appropriate
