Candler County Hospital is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and professional Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide quality nursing care within a correctional facility. The LPN is responsible for delivering direct patient care to the inmate population under the direction of a Registered Nurse or licensed provider while maintaining a safe, secure, and professional environment.

The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced correctional setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to incarcerated patients in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.

Perform nursing assessments and document findings accurately and timely.

Administer prescribed medications and treatments.

Monitor patients for changes in condition and report significant findings to the RN or provider.

Assist with intake screenings, sick call, chronic care clinics, and discharge planning.

Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate interventions within scope of practice.

Collect laboratory specimens and perform point-of-care testing as appropriate.

Maintain accurate electronic medical records and documentation.

Educate patients on medications, chronic disease management, and health promotion.

Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards.

Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and facility policies.

Follow all correctional facility security procedures and safety protocols.

Collaborate effectively with healthcare providers, correctional officers, and interdisciplinary team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.

Current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Georgia (or eligible for licensure).Current CPR certification required.

One (1) year of nursing experience preferred; correctional, emergency, medical-surgical, or behavioral health experience is a plus.

Ability to pass required background screening and security clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills.

Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to medical emergencies.

Excellent documentation and organizational skills.

Effective verbal and written communication.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Professional demeanor with the ability to establish appropriate boundaries.

Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations.

Understanding of confidentiality and ethical standards in correctional healthcare.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations.

Ability to work in a secure correctional environment.
