Position: Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing (Non-Tenure Track)

Clinical Assistant Professor

The Clinical Assistant Professor is a 12-month, on-location, non-tenure track faculty member who serves as an educator-practitioner within the Department of Nursing. This position is primarily responsible for providing high-quality didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction in undergraduate nursing courses and graduate nursing courses, when qualified by education and instructional requirements. The Clinical Assistant Professor supports the teaching and service mission of the Department through excellence in instruction, student advising, curriculum development, program evaluation, and participation in accreditation and continuous quality improvement activities.

Faculty are expected to maintain current clinical competence, professional licensure, and professional development consistent with contemporary nursing practices. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Teach assigned didactic, laboratory, simulation, and clinical nursing courses. Develop, implement, and evaluate course content and learning activities consistent with program outcomes, accreditation standards, and evidence-based nursing practice. Assess student learning and provide timely feedback regarding academic and clinical performance. Advise and mentor students regarding academic progress, licensure preparation, and professional development. Participate in curriculum development, program evaluation, accreditation activities, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Collaborate with faculty, staff, and clinical agency partners to support student learning and clinical education. Maintain regular office hours and participate in student recruitment, retention, and success initiatives. Serve on departmental, college, university, and professional committees as assigned. Maintain current RN licensure, required certifications, and clinical competency. Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of nursing practice, teaching strategies, and regulatory requirements.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution. A baccalaureate degree in nursing will be considered with documentation and progress towards an earned graduate degree in nursing and have experience in the area of responsibility. Current unrestricted Registered Nurse license or eligibility for licensure in the State of Georgia. Minimum of (3) years of clinical nursing experience.

Knowledge of subject matter, appropriate course content, and current trends and methodologies in education and nursing; evidence of effective teaching in an institution of higher education. Ability to produce high-quality work while working independently.
