The Telecommunications Installation Technician I is part of a team that installs and supports information systems for dairy farms across the country. This is a career track technical position with room for growth. Responsibilities include installation and support of networks, surveillance cameras, computers, and computer hardware. The role requires strong technical aptitude and a desire to work in a farm setting with a team approach.

The position is physically demanding and requires work in a variety of environmental conditions (heat and cold) and significant travel (minimum 60% of time) throughout the United States.

• Work is largely performed outdoors with regular exposure to a variety of weather conditions.
• Work is performed on farms in close proximity to cows.
• Work is performed using ladders and aerial lifts to heights up to 100 feet.
• Work requires driving a vehicle and some air travel.

Ability to use a computer and telephone for several hours a day in an office environment.

• Ability to sit, stand, kneel, climb ladders, and lift up to 80 pounds as needed.

• Associate’s degree in animal science, general agriculture, information systems, or a relevant field and at least 1 year of relevant experience (e.g., repairing Windows-based computers, deploying point-to-multipoint wireless networks, or providing IT-based managed services). Additional relevant experience can substitute for education.
• Valid driver’s license.

• General knowledge of electricity and wiring.
• Previous experience in building trades, finish work, or general construction.
