Bookkeeper / Accountant
Location: Albany, NY
Job Type: Full-Time
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Accountant to manage daily financial operations and assist with minor HR responsibilities. The ideal candidate will take over in-house bookkeeping duties from an external accounting firm and ensure the continued efficiency of the current accounting system.
Experience with Zoho Books or Quick Books is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Bookkeeping:
- Maintain and manage the full-cycle bookkeeping process.
- Handle all billing and invoicing procedures.
- Process company commissions and ensure accurate and timely payments.
- Reconcile bank statements and manage financial records.
- Assist with tax preparation and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Generate and analyze financial reports as needed.
- Work within existing accounting software (Zoho Books or Quick Books).
- Ensure smooth integration of financial data into the current system.
- Assist with onboarding new employees.
- Handle health insurance billing and other benefits-related tasks.
- Maintain confidential employee files and assist with minor administrative HR tasks.
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a similar financial role.
- Proficiency with Zoho Books and/or Quick Books is required.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Experience with payroll, taxes, and commission calculations is a plus.
- Familiarity with basic HR processes is helpful but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working in a small team or entrepreneurial environment.
- Discretion with handling sensitive and confidential information.
