Duties Description
• Preparation of the Disability Benefits Fund quarterly and annual statements

* Preparation of the Disability Benefits Fund and Aggregate Trust Fund audited statements

* Monthly journal entries and reconciliations

* Prepare and review assets in the Fixed Asset module

* Maintaining departmental policies and procedures

* Special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications For appointment via NY HELPs:

* To Accountant or Auditor Trainee 1 (SG-14): A bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation or a bachelor's degree with 24 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation courses.

* To Senior Accountant or Auditor 1 (SG-18)*: A bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation or a bachelor's degree with 24 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation courses and two years of professional experience in accounting/auditing or financial internal or field auditing, where you were responsible for the full range of activities in the design and/or review, analysis and management of accounting systems, resulting in the preparation of, or recommendations on, financial statements in accord with generally accepted accounting principles.

* Substitutions: A master's degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation and one year of professional experience in accounting/auditing or financial internal or field auditing, where you were responsible for the full range of activities in the design and/or review, analysis and management of accounting systems, resulting in the preparation of, or recommendations on, financial statements in accord with generally accepted accounting principles or a currently valid Certified Public Accountant license and registration issued by New York State.

For competitive appointment:

* Transfer:
Current New York State employee with one year of permanent competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. Appointments via transfer must not result in a second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades. Eligible titles include, but are not limited to:

* Titles eligible for transfer to Trainee 1 include, but are not limited to:
Auditor Trainee 1, Accountant Trainee 1, Budgeting Analyst Trainee 1, State Program Examiner 1 Fiscal.

* Titles eligible for transfer to Senior Accountant include, but are not limited to:
Auditor 1, Senior Accountant, Internal Auditor 1, Senr Budgeting Analyst.

Reinstatement:
Candidates who have held Senior Accountant title, or a transferable title, may be eligible for consideration for reinstatement.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Proficiency in intermediate Excel: pivot tables & lookups

* Experience with Microsoft Suite

* Strong understanding of Oracle Financials modules, and practical experience with configuration, troubleshooting, and system maintenance
