Project Accountant

The Project Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for assigned projects, assisting in budget preparation, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

• Maintain accurate financial records for assigned projects, including contracts and invoices
• Assist in preparing project budgets and entering data into the accounting system
• Monitor and review project costs and determine appropriate revenue recognition
• Perform month-end and year-end close tasks: reconciliations, variance analysis, financial statement support
• Prepare and issue client invoices in accordance with contract terms
• Generate client statements and follow up on outstanding balances
  
  Collaborate with Team Leaders and Project Managers to ensure alignment on project budgets and billing status
• Support audit preparation by providing reconciliations, schedules, and source documentation

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience working with accounting and billing systems
• Experience with New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) projects is required
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Project Accountant

• Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit revenue recognition principles
• Proficiency in Deltek Vision or Deltek Vantagepoint is required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, reconciliation management)
• Experience working with multisource revenue streams and billing workflows
• Strong analytical and variance-analysis skills
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with senior leadership
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and internal-control awareness

• Experience with Surveying projects
