Job Description:

Functions and Scope:

The Research Foundation for the State University of New York is seeking an intern to work in a fast-paced environment under the direction of the Grant Coordinator, Award Establishment.

The Award Establishment Intern will provide support in the areas of Pre-Award and Award Establishment (AE), as well as other areas of the SUNY System Administration Sponsored Programs Office. The intern will perform diversified duties related to the administrative functions within the lifecycle of Sponsored Programs.

Duties:

Collaborate in a diverse, cross-functional environment while maintaining strong team relationships

Provide support to AE and Pre-Award personnel

Manage and organize shared email inbox using Microsoft Outlook to ensure timely responses

Learn to read and interpret budgets in Microsoft Excel and accurately input budget data into organizational systems, including:
  • RF's Oracle Business System for award establishment, budget modifications,
  • and date extensions, etc.
  • Pre-Award Compliance System (PACS) for proposal and compliance-related entries
Create, file, and maintain electronic documents in a shared network drive and the Oracle Business System

Maintain responsiveness and demonstrate strong customer service skills when communicating with Principal Investigators (PIs) and project staff

Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

Required

High school degree or equivalent; currently enrolled in an accredited degree program
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
Eagerness to learn new policies, procedures, and organizational software tools
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 products

Preferred:

Students enrolled at a State University of New York college/university
Enrolled in a business-related degree program

Compensation for this position:
The compensation for this role is $20 per hour for undergraduates and $22 per hour for graduate students.
