Position: Information Technology (IT) Intern
Location: City of Albany

Position Overview

The Information Technology Intern is responsible for performing and assisting with various administrative tasks and projects to support the Information Technology (IT) Team. The internship will take place from June 30, 2026 through August 28, 2026.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Information Technology initiatives.
  • Support troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Support the setup, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and peripherals.
  • Maintain and update documentation related to IT processes and assets.
  • Assist with software installations, updates, and patches.
  • Support users with technical issues and inquiries.
  • Participate in IT projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Help ensure cybersecurity protocols are followed.
  • Conduct research on new technologies and tools to improve efficiency.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and diverse employee groups.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks.
  • Provide administrative support for IT projects as needed.
  • Deliver administrative support for IT functions, including scheduling meetings and handling correspondence.
  • Occasionally attend meetings virtually, take notes, and outline next steps or support in drafting meeting agendas and materials.
  • Support IT with maintaining IT databases and systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and redirect to appropriate IT team members when necessary.

Education & Experience
  • Current high school student holding an employment certificate (working papers) to hold a job in New York State.

  • Knowledge of Canva (preferred), Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Google Suite.
  • Knowledge of proper office procedures, including filing, answering the telephone professionally, photocopying, greeting visitors cordially, and handling information with confidentiality.
  • Prior experience working in schools and urban communities is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours.
