The Mail Clerk will work collaboratively with others to print, prepare for mailing, and mail approximately 500 schools' answer sheets for purposes of NYS assessments. Additionally, the selected candidate will intake and process mail through multiple methods. Training will be provided for all processes and procedures. Due to the time-sensitive nature of school assessment data, this work is steady-paced and deadline-driven.
Applicants must be able to handle the physical demands of the work environment, including lifting and moving paper, packages, and continuous movement throughout the workplace.
- Receiving and unpacking mail
- Alphabetizing and organizing information
- Using scanning machines
- Operating printing machines
- Basic data entry and lookup
- Basic email communication
- Record and note keeping
- Paper filing
Experience with NYS assessments is helpful but not required.
Work Environment &Physical Requirements
- Work environment includes lifting and moving reams of paper, packages, and stacks of paper.
- Paper boxes/cases weigh approximately 50–52 lbs each.
- Candidate will be expected to move paper from stock areas to printers as part of daily responsibilities.
- Typically, 4–6 cases of paper are moved at a time from stock to the operations room.
- Continuous movement throughout the work environment is required.
- Desks and chairs are available for sitting while printers are operating during larger jobs.
- Scanning work is desk-oriented.
- Comfort mats and standing-height worktables are available when standing is required.
- Forklift operation is not required.
- Pallet jack use may occasionally be necessary and training can be provided.
- Paper pallets may need to be moved in and out of storage or rearranged to fit additional stock.
- Vendors typically deliver paper pallets only to the loading dock, requiring staff assistance to move them into the stock room.
- Applicants are required to have reliable transportation, as the work location is not on a direct bus line.
- Interviews will be conducted in person. Candidates selected for interviews will be invited to the office for:
- A conversation/interview

Skills & Qualifications
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Customer service-oriented attitude
- Basic technical knowledge of computers, scanning, and printing is helpful but not required
- Training and support will be provided
- Travel may include post office or bank runs when the Operations Manager is unavailable.
- A company vehicle will be provided when needed.
- Candidates must meet pre-screening requirements to use the company vehicle.
- A valid NYS Driver's License held for at least 3 years is required for vehicle use.
Position(s) are full time, Monday – Friday, at 37.5 hours/week. Schedules may vary by location and need, but are generally one of the following:
- 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Each daily schedule includes a thirty-minute lunch and two ten-minute breaks. Overtime is not anticipated. Work is 100% on-site. There is no option for telework.
