Location: City of Albany
Responsibilities
The Administrative Assistant 1 will perform the following duties:
- Monitor the shared mailbox and answer incoming calls.
- Assist with scheduling of trainings and manage training room calendars.
- Provide exceptional customer service via email, phone, and in‑person for the training department.
- Provide technical support in training rooms.
Minimum Qualifications (Non‑Competitive)
The position may be filled via a non‑competitive appointment under the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide program (NY HELPS). Minimum qualifications are:
- Two years of experience in administrative support (or equivalent certification/degree) for the Administrative Assistant 1 level; or
- One year of experience as an Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding) or its Spanish‑language equivalent for the Trainee 1 level; or
- One year of experience as an Office Assistant 2 (Keyboarding) (or Spanish‑language equivalent) for the Administrative Assistant 1 level.
All candidates must complete the required training and development program to advance to the next level.
CompetitiveMinimum Qualifications
A subsequent 55 b/c appointment may be considered for candidates with one year of permanent or contingent‑permanent service in a Grade 6 or higher position and a current Civil Service 55 b/c approval letter.
Preferred Qualifications- Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across diverse stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
- Proficient writing abilities in a professional context.
- Technological proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and virtual communication platforms (Zoom, Teams).
- Familiarity with the Statewide Learning Management System (SLMS) is an added advantage.
