Overview

- Receives, processes, sorts, tracks, and distributes incoming and outgoing mail, including USPS, overnight deliveries, certified mail, and electronic package processing using departmental tracking systems.
- Prepares mailings and documents for distribution, including operating mailing and folder/inserter equipment, assisting staff with mailing needs, and determining appropriate mailing methods.
- Maintains inventory and distributes office supplies, processes supply orders, and coordinates with vendors and delivery services to support daily operations.
- Generates reports, maintains records, and utilizes departmental systems to track data, process requests, and submit maintenance work orders.
- Provides administrative and operational support to Office Services and Facilities Management, including vendor coordination, records retention activities, and other assigned projects.
- Assists with the maintenance and support of office equipment, including copiers and printers, and provides basic troubleshooting and toner replacement.
- Supervises subordinate staff as assigned and completes required training and other duties in support of departmental operations.

Transfer:
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a title eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
55b/c Appointment:
Candidates must meet the eligibility requirements of the Governor's Program to Hire Individuals and Veterans with Disabilities as described in Civil Service Law (information available at https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).).
- One year of experience where most work time is spent performing activities related to mail receipt, mail distribution, storage, and/or stores keeping.
- One year as an Office Assistant 1, or one year of permanent service in a clerical or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher.
- For NY HELPS Program: the title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment; applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the title (see above). After one year, these employees are expected to convert to competitive status.
- If the number of qualified candidates who apply for the position is three or less, a permanent appointment can be made by non-competitive promotion (Section 52.7 of Civil Service Law).
Salary: $42,641 – $52,413.
Appointment Status:
Permanent.
Travel: 5%.
