Business Analyst

Client:
New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP)

Duration: 36 Months

Location:

Albany, NY 12207

Hours Per Week: 40 Hours

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand, analyze, and document complex business processes and workflows.
  • Gather, validate, and document business, functional, and system requirements for enterprise application development projects.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications, user stories, and process flows for development teams.
  • Support data migration activities, including data analysis, mapping, validation, and reconciliation efforts.
  • Work closely with technical teams on GIS integration, system modernization, and business process redesign initiatives.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings, workshops, and requirement review sessions to ensure alignment across teams.
  • Create and maintain process models, workflow diagrams, and project documentation using tools such as Visio, BPMN, or Lucidchart.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, user story development, and acceptance testing.

Required/Preferred

Skills:

  • 7+ years of strong experience in business analysis for enterprise application development and system modernization projects.
  • Proven ability to gather, analyze, document, and manage business and functional requirements.
  • Experience documenting complex business workflows and creating process models using BPMN, Visio, Lucidchart, or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies, including user story creation, backlog management, and sprint support.
  • Experience supporting data migration projects, including data mapping, analysis, validation, and quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of GIS integration projects and business process redesign initiatives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and facilitation skills with the ability to work across multiple business units.
  • Experience working on government or public sector projects is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
