Role OverviewA well-established heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Bridge Superintendent to lead field operations on complex bridge and structural projects throughout the region. This key leadership role is responsible for driving day-to-day execution, coordinating crews and subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest standards of quality. The ideal candidate brings deep field experience in bridge construction, a strong understanding of structural sequencing, and the ability to lead teams through technically demanding work in active construction environments.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all on-site construction activities for bridge and structural projects from mobilization through completion
- Coordinate and supervise field crews, subcontractors, and equipment resources
- Plan and manage work sequencing, including structural steel, concrete placement, foundations, and formwork operations
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, work plans, and regulatory requirements
- Interpret and execute plans, specifications, and shop drawings with a high level of accuracy
- Drive project schedule performance and implement recovery strategies when required
- Coordinate inspections, testing, and quality control procedures
- Maintain daily reports, site logs, and production tracking
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and cost
- Lead site meetings and maintain strong communication across all parties
- 10+ years of field supervision experience in heavy civil construction, with a strong focus on bridge or structural projects
- Proven experience managing complex bridge scopes including foundations, structural concrete, steel erection, and deck work
- Strong leadership and crew management capabilities in active construction environments
- Deep knowledge of construction sequencing, means and methods for bridge construction
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents
- Strong understanding of safety standards and regulatory compliance (DOT, OSHA, etc.)
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required
- Steel erection and coordination
- Deep foundations (piles, drilled shafts, cofferdams where applicable)
- Formwork systems and falsework
- Rigging and heavy equipment coordination
- Traffic control and staging in active roadway environments
- Familiarity with project schedules, look‑ahead planning, and production tracking
- Leads from the front with a strong safety‑first mindset
- Sets clear expectations and holds teams accountable for performance and quality
- Builds productive relationships with crews, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
- Thrives in a fast‑paced, field‑driven environment where planning and execution are equally critical
- Maintains professionalism under pressure and drives results through teamwork
- Primarily field‑based role on active construction sites
- Exposure to outdoor conditions and physically active environments
- Role requires strong presence on‑site and hands‑on leadership
