AECOM is actively seeking a talented and experienced Construction Mid‑Level Mechanical Systems Inspector to support the US Army Corps of Engineers at the Watervliet Arsenal in Albany, NY. This is an onsite, full‑time position.
Responsibilities- Review of plans, specifications and oversight of work to ensure construction conforms to contract drawings.
- Review technical aspects of designated major design, construction, renovation or alteration projects.
- Review RFIs, submittals, BOC/E reviews and perform plan‑in‑hand reviews.
- Review, inspect, and test mechanical systems and equipment installed in projects.
- Monitor and document commissioning of building systems.
- Prepare pertinent correspondence, reports, and A‑E contract criteria necessary for project completion.
- Review controversial and/or complex change orders and claims to ensure they are documented and justified.
- Attend all mechanical and plumbing meetings and provide input on effectively meeting all RFP and design requirements, including any LEED requirements incorporated into the design.
- Attend all warranty inspections and support in attaining and maintaining the contractual warranty.
- HS + 10 years of relevant experience in construction practices, engineering, procedures and testing, and large vertical DoD construction projects.
- 3 years commissioning experience.
- US citizenship required.
- Pass State and Federal criminal history/security background checks.
- Pass pre‑employment drug screen.
- Work up to 50% of time in indoor/outdoor construction site environments with uneven terrain, variable environmental conditions including heat, dust, noise, moisture, and dryness.
- Occasionally (10‑25% of workday) perform repetitive bending/stooping, repetitive or fine hand movements, work at heights, and lift and carry equipment weighing less than 25 pounds.
- Occasionally work with arms above shoulder level, power gripping/squeezing, climb stairs, use portable ladders, wear fall protection, work in confined spaces, and lift greater than 25 pounds.
- Wear associated personal protective equipment, including gloves, safety glasses/goggles, face shield, safety shoes/boots, hard hat, hearing protection, and fall protection.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Knowledge of HVAC, piping, plumbing and building control systems.
- Experience using RMS.
- USACE experience.
- Relocation assistance is not available.
