Duties Description
This position is located in the Bureau of Perinatal, Reproductive, and Sexual Health’s Perinatal Regionalization Unit. In addition to unit and bureau leadership, this position will work with the Division of Family Health’s Medical Director and the Bureau of Data Analytics, Research, and Evaluation. The successful applicant will support the Program Coordinator of the Maternal Mortality Review Initiative. In this role, the incumbent will assist with the coordination and facilitation of the NYS Maternal Mortality Review Board and Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Advisory Council meetings, including preparing agendas, presentations, and other meeting materials.
Additionally, they will assist in program and fiscal management of any subcontracts associated with the program, and assist in drafting grant applications, reports and other documents related to the program. Travel, including overnight travel and travel to areas inaccessible by public transportation may be required as part of this position.

HPA Trainee 1:
Four years of experience in the administration, supervision, and oversight of agency programs including but not limited to the design, implementation, administration, management, operation, and assessment of program effectiveness.
HPA Trainee 2:
Five years of experience in the administration, supervision, and oversight of agency programs including but not limited to the design, implementation, administration, management, operation, and assessment of program effectiveness.
HPA (Grade 18):
Six years of experience in the administration, supervision, and oversight of agency programs including but not limited to the design, implementation, administration, management, operation, and assessment of program effectiveness.
Substitutions for all levels:
An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of experience; a master’s degree may substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate may substitute for six years of experience.
Transfer Candidates:
Current NYS Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Health Program Administrator (G-18); OR current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent permanent, competitive service in a title eligible to transfer.
Preferred Qualifications:
An advanced degree (Masters/Doctoral) in public health, public administration, or similar fields of study; or a post-graduate certificate in maternal and child health, health disparities, or other similar public health public policy certificate.
