The candidate will demonstrate their expertise through the contribution of impactful and foundational research in mathematics with potential applications related to quantum or neuromorphic computing which involve, for example, post-quantum cryptography, quantum information theory, or quantum complexity theory.
Successful candidates will build an active research program that bridges innovation in pure mathematics with real-world applications.
The position should be capable of complementing and extending current department strengths in data science, artificial intelligence, representation theory, commutive algebra, algebraic geometry, number theory, and complexity theory. A successful new hire should be capable of forming collaborations with university-wide initiatives such as the AI Plus Institute and developing novel research directions with colleagues in Physics and Nanoscale Science and Engineering in areas relevant to their discipline.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
* A terminal doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in mathematics from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by August 15, 2026.
* A record of research and scholarly activity in algebra with potential applications to quantum computing or a related field, as specified in the position description, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, preprint manuscripts, books, or conference proceedings.
