OverviewThe Computer Science Department within the College of Nanotechnology, Science, and Engineering at the University at Albany, SUNY, is seeking applicants for an Associate or Full Professor to begin Fall 2026. Areas of particular interest include computer science systems, and the specific research topic this EIP targets is AI‐Supported microelectronic chip design. The position is a SUNY Empire Innovation Program position, intended to recruit and support faculty with strong records of research accomplishments.

- Teach classes in the computer science systems domain, including but not limited to computer architectures, computer networks, operating systems, and software engineering.
- Conduct research, including supervision of PhD students and postdoctoral scholars.
- Provide service to the CS department, CNSE, and UAlbany, participating in departmental meetings and service activities such as student recruitment and outreach.
- Reports to Computer Science Chair. Supervises no formal positions. May supervise graduate and undergraduate students working as teaching assistants, lab supervisors, and graders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited institution.
- A record of undergraduate and graduate teaching that meets the criteria for a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor.
- A record of research that meets the criteria for a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor.
- A record of service that meets the criteria for a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor.
- A strong record of scholarly publications.
- A record of research funding.
- Experience in graduate student mentorship.
- Demonstrated ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within the diverse campus community.
- Demonstrated ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging in the role.
- A record of interdisciplinary research with scientists in fields such as chip design and nanotechnology.
- Recognized as an international leader in the research area.
- Faculty will be provided with personal office space and lab space to support research.
- Teaching will be scheduled across the campus teaching facilities.
- Class schedules may include courses offered after 5 pm on weekdays.
- Online courses may be scheduled at the discretion of the department chair.
- This position will require occasional evening and weekend work to support events and community activities.
- Travel within New York State and beyond may be necessary.
Professional Rank and Salary Range:
Associate Professor / Full Professor, A4, salary commensurate with experience.
