Instructional Math Coach - North Albany Middle School

Monday – Friday
General Statement:The mathematics coach is not an administrator or supervisor but is a collegial resource who provides job-embedded professional development to staff in an effort to enhance and expand a repertoire of strategies that can be used to support student achievement in Mathematics.
Responsibilities:- Engage in ongoing professional development to study, research, and reflect upon researched and research-based best practices to share with leaders
- Attend team meeting to contribute to professional dialogue
- Work directly with teachers in classrooms and provide collegial support as well as mentorship in each subject/discipline (non‑evaluative)
- Model and co‑teach lessons, visit classrooms, view instruction, and engage in reflective discussion with classroom teachers
- Work directly with students in selected classrooms to provide instruction to students in small group settings to increase their understanding of taught concepts
- Evaluate, along with the teacher, student learning to determine appropriate instructional planning
- Support teachers in completing required paperwork
- Analyses and distributes the data from a range of assessments, including New York State assessments
- Provides resources to classroom teachers
Skills and Abilities:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the outlined major responsibilities and duties satisfactorily
- Individuals must be effective communicators and possess a strong ability to work collaboratively with peers in order to positively impact teaching practice
- Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred
- The individual must have a working knowledge of the various district software to track work product, communicate with stakeholders, and produce materials for PD/PLC presentations. This includes but is not limited to Outlook calendar and Google suite, e’Doctrina, IXL, and other supportive math platforms
