Job Description
The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University at Albany seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor in Hispanic Linguistics for one year to begin in Fall 2025, teaching 3/3. A PhD in Hispanic linguistics is required by August 15, 2025. Primary areas of specialization are Spanish for the professions and second/heritage language acquisition. Preference will be given to candidates that better complement existing strengths in the program.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated evidence of high‑quality research and teaching. Native or near‑native fluency in Spanish and English are required.
- A Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics from a U.S. accredited institution or an internationally recognized organization by September 1, 2025. Candidates who will not hold the degree by this date will not be considered.
- Ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
- Ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role.
- Native or native‑like competence in Spanish and English.
- At least three years of experience teaching Spanish and Spanish linguistics classes at the collegiate level.
- Experience teaching Spanish for the health professions and Business and Legal Spanish.
Visiting Assistant Professor (10‑Month), $50,000.
