Job DescriptionThe IAP Program Specialist works closely with the Coordinator of the Internships in Aging Project (IAP) in the Master of Social Work (MSW) program to recruit and train students. This part‑time role collaborates with community field sites to develop and innovate learning experiences, focusing on serving underserved communities. When a supervising MSW staff member is unavailable, the Program Specialist assumes the supervisory role.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Work with community partners to develop new internship and funding opportunities; network in the community to identify expansion areas to serve underserved populations; develop field internships and act as liaison to internship agencies and students; serve as field instructor if necessary.
- Develop and deliver bi‑weekly integrative seminars for students in the program.
- Assist with the recruitment, selection, and placement of students in these internships; develop innovative recruitment approaches including dissemination of aging information and speaking on aging topics in classes.
- Other reasonable duties as assigned.

- Demonstrate ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, Field Instructors, and MSW program staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills to identify and develop new field practicum opportunities aligned with the school curriculum and program goals.
- Provide support, training, and consultation to Field Instructors and agency partners.
- Recruit, support, and retain students.
- Support students and mediate conflicts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
- Skills for mediation and conflict resolution.
- Competence in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Canva.
- Commitment to service within the School of Social Welfare, the university, and community through committee participation and event planning.
- Competence in practice and collaboration with culturally diverse constituencies.
- Develop inclusive and equitable relationships within the diverse campus community.
- Support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging in your role.
- Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CSWE‑accredited program and a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
- Minimum two years of post‑MSW social work practice experience.
- At least one year of professional experience working with older adults or their families.
- Ability to reliably travel to and from assigned site visit locations.
- Licensed as LMSW in New York State.
- Experience as a Field Instructor and completion of the Seminar in Field Instruction.
- Experience conducting community‑based meetings.
- Typical office environment.
- Requires both in‑person and Zoom/Teams meetings.
- Requires agency site visits in the community.
Professional Rank and Salary Range: Senior Staff Assistant, SL3, $30,000–32,500 (prorated from full‑time).
