Job DescriptionThe Department of Educational & Counseling Psychology is multidisciplinary and devoted to research, teaching, and service in the use of psychological principles to promote lifelong growth, learning, and development in multiple life roles and contexts. Four disciplines are represented in the department:
Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology and Methodology, School Psychology, and Special Education.
The Division of Counseling Psychology in the Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology is seeking an instructor to teach ECPY 730 Introduction to Biopsychology and Psychopharmacology in the Fall semester (August 24 through December
7). The course is currently scheduled for fully online, synchronous, Monday 4:30pm-7:20pm (Eastern Standard Time), but could be rescheduled.
This course introduces students to how human emotions, thoughts and behavior are affected by the brain, the nervous system and neurotransmitters. Basic neuroanatomy is covered in terms of which brain structures and brain circuits are the most important sites for psychopharmacological action. The various realms of psychopathology are explored in terms of their associated brain physiology and pharmacological treatments for diverse populations.

- Doctoral degree (Ph.D., Psy.D., or equivalent) in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Neuroscience, or a closely related field including medicine (e.g., MD, OD, and PA)
- Demonstrated knowledge of:
- Biological bases of behavior and psychopathology
- Prior teaching experience (online and/or in-person) OR relevant clinical expertise
- Ability to teach synchronously in an online format (or adapt to alternative scheduling if needed)
- Experience teaching courses in the biological bases of behavior
- Clinical experience that includes familiarity with biological bases of behavior and psychopathology
- Experience integrating biological, psychological, and social perspectives in instruction
- Experience teaching diverse student populations and addressing mental health across diverse groups
- Familiarity with current research or practice in brain-behavior relationships and evidence-based treatment.

Lecturer (part-time), $6,000-$7,000.
