Position Overview
Lead the Computer Technology department in St. Petersburg, Florida, advancing workforce-focused technology programs that serve adult learners. The Chair provides academic and operational leadership for programs, faculty, and students within the department, ensuring excellence and consistency across Computer Technology offerings.
Key Responsibilities- Department Leadership and Operations
- Primary point of contact and liaison for faculty.
- Oversee term‑based operations, including course scheduling and textbook coordination.
- Support faculty onboarding, training, and communication to ensure instructional quality.
- Participate in departmental, school‑level, and university initiatives, committees, and special projects.
- Program Quality & Curriculum Oversight
- Monitor course quality and coordinate updates in collaboration with Instructional Design and Development (IDD).
- Support course development, revisions, and alignment with program outcomes and workforce needs.
- Contribute to program review, assessment reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and accreditation standards.
- Faculty Support & Student Success
- Guide faculty in delivering high‑quality online and hybrid instruction.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators, including course evaluations and student success metrics.
- Promote effective teaching practices that support engagement, retention, and academic success among adult learners.
- Faculty Responsibilities
- Teach within the university’s workload model.
- Maintain a scholarly agenda aligned with institutional priorities.
- Engage faculty in university and community service activities as appropriate.
- Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field.
- Professional experience in a relevant technical field, with industry certifications preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of higher education teaching experience.
- Progressive administrative experience.
- Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Prior leadership or administrative experience in higher education.
- Demonstrated experience in online and/or hybrid instructional environments.
- Experience with course development, assessment, and accreditation processes.
- Strong track record of promoting student success using evidence‑based decision‑making.
- Experience with recruitment, selection, evaluation, development, and mentoring of faculty.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in curriculum and faculty support.
Hybrid. On‑site work at the St. Petersburg location with remote collaboration. Occasional travel to Albany, NY, for training and program activities.
Salary & BenefitsAnnual salary range: $97,500 – $107,000. Benefits include paid time off, retirement, and excellent health insurance.
