Tue Jun 30 2026. The University at Albany (UAlbany) is expanding its global reach in India, focusing on academic and research partnerships with Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) and Ramaiah Institute of Science and Management (RISM).
The agreements with RUAS and RISM have paved the way for collaboration on academic programs, research initiatives, workforce development, and faculty and student exchange. Key milestones include the official launch of RISM at its temporary location in June 2026, a celebration of the new RISM campus in Bengaluru in September 2026, and ongoing relationship-building with industry partners in India.
Reporting StructureReports to the President with a dotted reporting line to the Vice President for Research and Economic Development.
Primary Responsibilities- Strategy Development
- The Senior Advisor will expand UAlbany’s existing strategic initiatives with India, develop short- and long-term goals, and create a sustainable plan to enhance UAlbany’s presence in India, including academic partnerships, research collaborations, enrollment opportunities, and metrics to measure progress.
- The Advisor will coordinate with the Division of Academic Affairs, Division of Research and Economic Development, Student Affairs and Enrollment, and Communications and Marketing to align goals and identify implementation opportunities.
- In collaboration with UAlbany’s Office of Communications and Marketing and Student Affairs, the Advisor will work to increase UAlbany’s presence in India, especially Bengaluru, through sponsor ships and events that advance UAlbany’s regional goals.
- Operationalizing Partnerships
- The Senior Advisor serves as the official point of contact between UAlbany and partner institutions such as RUAS and RISM, building trust and maintaining regular communication.
- The Advisor will understand existing partnership agreements, facilitate their implementation and review, and collaborate with the Center for International Education and Global Strategy (CIEGS).
- The Advisor will identify strategic opportunities for new partnerships and collaborations with institutions in India and beyond that align with UAlbany’s strategic goals.

- Knowledge of academic and research partnerships in higher education.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with diverse global audiences.
- Demonstrated success in managing international partnerships.

- Ability to exercise sound judgment and handle confidential matters with discretion.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

- Bachelor’s degree from a U.S. Department of Education accredited college or a similarly recognized international institution.
- At least 5 years of senior-level experience in international programs, research administration, or a related field within a higher education institution.
- Experience with and knowledge of higher education in India.
- Experience developing, managing, or implementing international partnerships or global initiatives.
- Master’s degree in higher education administration, international relations, public administration, business, or a related field from a U.S. accredited institution or its international equivalent.
- Significant experience working with Indian higher education institutions or partners.
- Experience working within SUNY or a comparable institution.
- Typical office environment.
- MP3, $135,000 – $145,000.
