The Department of Public Administration and Policy, Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, invites applications for a tenure‑track assistant professor in public policy and/or applied microeconomics, beginning Fall 2026. Candidates should specialize in one or more public policy areas such as child and family policy, education, energy, health, international development, science and technology, artificial intelligence, social policy, inequality, or urban policy.
A completed doctoral degree from an accredited program by August 15, 2026 is required.
- Conduct an active, productive research program that will generate a stream of publications sufficient for tenure at an R1 university.
- Teach a 2‑2 load, typically two sections of Masters‑level microeconomics, a Masters or undergraduate statistics section, and a public policy elective.
- Educate undergraduate and graduate students, and provide instruction in both in‑person and online course formats as needed.
- Participate and collaborate in departmental activities involving graduate and undergraduate students.
- Maintain excellent communication skills, including effective verbal and written communication with diverse audiences.
Minimum Qualifications
- A PhD from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization, completed by 8/15/2026.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct a program of original research in Public Policy that will produce publishable results and conference presentations.
- Evidence of a research program addressing relevant questions in one or more Public Policy areas through submitted research examples, cover letter, and dissertation research.
- Proof of potential to teach a broad range of courses in Public Policy and Applied Microeconomics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Evidence of the ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
- Evidence of the ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging in the role.
- Record of, or potential for, generating external funding to support the research agenda.
- Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in economics, econometrics, or public policy.
- Demonstrated ability, or potential, to teach classes in both online and in‑person settings.
- Publication record addressing the big questions in one or more areas of Public Policy or Artificial Intelligence.
