French Teacher

Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking a French Teacher starting in Fall 2026 at a boarding school for girls in the Albany, NY area.

Boarding school positions may include on‑campus housing and meals (room and board) depending on the role and school.

Note:

This is a one-year leave replacement role with possibility of an extension based on school needs.

• Teach several French courses per semester at various proficiency levels for upper school students.
• Develop engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs and skill levels of individual students.
• Teach French language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through a variety of instructional methods.
• Create opportunities for students to practice conversational French and improve pronunciation.
• Organizing fun events where students can showcase their French language skills.
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
• Participate in regular professional development activities to stay current with best practices and innovation in language education.
• Assist with residential life duties as needed, fostering a safe and supportive living environment for students.
• Assist with supervising extracurricular activities and/or coaching school athletic teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in French, Linguistics, Education, or related required. Master’s degree preferred.
• Fluency in French required.
• No teaching license or credential is required.
• Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, dependable, and eager to contribute to the school community.
• Willingness to assist with extracurricular and school community activities.

• Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
• Ability to teach multiple languages preferred.
