OverviewThe Department of Psychology, within the College of Arts and Sciences, offers Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD degrees with concentrations in Behavioral Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Clinical Psychology, and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. Additionally, the Department of Psychology and the College of Arts and Sciences offers a collaborative and supportive environment. This position emphasizes candidates who pursue excellence in research, teaching, and service at an R1 institution that serves a diverse community and mentors the next generation of scientists.
The Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology, within the School of Education, is multidisciplinary and devoted to research, teaching, and service in the use of psychological principles to promote lifelong growth, learning, and development in multiple life roles and contexts. Four disciplines are represented in the department:
Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology and Methodology, School Psychology, and Special Education.
This is a one-year, full-time academic year position, with the opportunity to apply for a term Lecturer appointment during the year. Classes begin August 24, 2026.
Courses- APSY 101 Introduction to Psychology
- EPSY 224 Lifespan Development
The Lecturer will teach six undergraduate psychology courses per year, three courses per semester, as assigned by the Department Chair and Dean.
Primary Responsibilities- Teaching:
Three courses per semester, for a total of six courses during the academic year. - Service:
University, College, Department Service, and other reasonable duties as assigned.
- Reports to:
Department Chair - May supervise employees as assigned.
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role.
- Ph.D. degree or terminal degree in psychology or closely related field from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally accrediting organization by 8/21/2026.
- Experience teaching at the college or university level.
- Experience teaching Introduction to Psychology and Lifespan Development.
- Experience teaching nursing students.
- Typical office, classroom, and educational environment
