Job Description:

The Department of Educational & Counseling Psycholog y at the School of Education, UAlbany, is multidisciplinary and devoted to research, teaching, and service inthe use of psychological principles to promote lifelong growth,learning, and development in multiple life roles and contexts. Four disciplines are represented in the department:
Counseling Psychology , Educational Psychology and Methodology ,School Psychology , and Special Education . The mission of the division of counseling psychology is to contribute theoretical and empirical scholarship that receives significant external recognition and support, and to prepare culturally responsive scientists and practitioners capable of intervening to improve quality in multiple life domains including emotional, relational, educational, work,and health.

This position will be housed in the Division of Counseling Psychology, within the Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology, with teaching responsibilities in the APA-accredited

Ph.D. program in Counseling Psychology and MPCAC-accredited

Master's program in Mental Health Counseling, and undergraduate counseling courses. Candidates should be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in one or more of the following areas: theories of counseling, group counseling, psychopathology,vocational psychology, assessment, cultural diversity, clinical practicum, internship, as well as other graduate counseling coursesas needed. This position offers a one-year appointment.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Teach a 3-3 undergraduate and graduate (Master's and Doctoral) course load
  • Advise graduate students
  • Participate in division, department, and school faculty meetings
  • Participate in the admissions process
  • Contribute to other division/department service activities asneeded.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in Counseling Psychology or equivalent from a collegeor University accredited by an accreditor recognized by the US Department of Education or by an internationally recognized accrediting organization by August 21, 2026.
  • Applicants must address in their applications their ability towork with a culturally diverse population.
  • Applicants must have documented experience, plans, and abilityto teach undergraduate and graduate courses in varying modalities(in-person, online, and/or hybrid).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Training and/or experience supervising practica.
  • Licensed, or license eligible, as a psychologist in New York State.
Working Environment:
  • Typical office/instructional environment.
  • Online and in-person teaching.
