Job Description

The Department of Educational & Counseling Psycholog y at the School of Education, UAlbany, is multidisciplinary and devoted to research, teaching, and service inthe use of psychological principles to promote lifelong growth, learning, and development in multiple life roles and contexts. Four disciplines are represented in the department:
Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology and Methodology, School Psychology, and Special Education. The Division of School Psychology ascribes to a cognitive-behavioral theoretical orientation and is committed to the teaching of evidence-based practice embedded within a multi-tiered service delivery model. A particular strength of the program is its community relationships, with numerous collaborative partnerships at the local and state level that involve students over their training sequence. This affords opportunity for enriched teaching/supervision experience.

The Visiting Assistant Professor in School Psychology will teach inthe division's APA-accredited Psy.

D. program and NASP accreditedCAS program in School Psychology. This position is available for aone-year term.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Teach a 3-3 course load. One course would include supervision of students on their internship which includes maintaining communication with site supervisors and conducting site visits each semester. Other courses to be determined based on the needs of the Division.
  • Participate in the evaluation of student portfolios and comprehensive exams.
  • Advise assigned Psy.

    D. and CAS advisees.
  • Participate in division, department, and school faculty meetings.
  • Participate in the admissions process for CAS and Psy.

    D.programs.
  • Contribute to other division/department service activities asneeded.

  • Reports to:

    Division Director, School Psychology
  • Supervises the following positions: N/A
Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in School Psychology degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by August 21,2026.
  • Licensed/License eligible in the state of New York.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in teaching.
  • Experience and/or interest in clinical supervision.
  • Experience and/or interest in child/adolescent psychotherapy and crisis intervention.
