Early Head Start Teacher

Are you an early childhood educator who loves to nurture and support very young children, 6 weeks to 3 years old, during their earliest years? At ACAP, we've been empowering children and families through early childhood education for nearly 60 years. As an Early Head Start Teacher, you will create a safe and enriching environment for infants and toddlers to grow, learn, and socialize.

ACAP is hiring full-time Early Head Start Teachers for year-round positions at our early childhood education centers in Albany, New York. Benefits include health, dental & vision insurance; sick and personal leave; 12 paid holidays; 403(b) with employer contribution; tuition assistance; employee assistance program (EAP); and opportunity for advancement! Pay starts at $23.46 per hour;
Monday – Friday; 35 hours per week.

Qualifications:

Associate's degree in early childhood education or related field with at least 15 hours of ECE coursework required. A minimum of 1 year of experience with infant/toddler care in child care, daycare, or other early childhood education setting is required. A Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential with an Infant/Toddler designation and 2 years of experience in infant/toddler care will also be accepted.

Valid driver's license is a plus. Bi- or multi-lingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute engaging, age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development for children ages 6 weeks to 3 years old.
  • Complete child education plans, assessments, progress notes, and other required documentation.
  • Create and maintain a safe, healthy environment, ensuring adequate supervision in all activities and compliance with all safety and licensing standards.
  • Build strong parent/guardian-teacher relationships with regular communication and collaboration to ensure every child's growth, development, and well-being are supported both in and out of the classroom.
