Location: City of Albany

Role Description The Student Engagement Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role located in Albany, NY. This position supports student engagement initiatives by planning, implementing, and assessing co-curricular and extracurricular programs that foster student involvement, leadership, and community-building. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating student events, collaborating with campus departments and student organizations, promoting programs through multiple communication channels, and maintaining accurate records of participation and outcomes.

The Coordinator advises and mentors student leaders, helps develop training and workshops, and ensures activities align with institutional policies and goals. The role also involves gathering feedback, contributing to strategic planning for student engagement, and occasionally working evenings and weekends to support major campus events.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, inclusive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Effective communication skills, including clear written and oral communication and comfort with presenting to groups.
  • Knowledge of education or student affairs practices, with an understanding of student development and campus programming.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in student engagement and student leadership initiatives.
  • Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs and deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and to exercise sound judgment and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with common office software and digital tools for event promotion, data tracking, and communication.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, student affairs, counseling, communications, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in a higher education setting or working directly with college students is highly beneficial.
