Job Description:The College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity (CEHC) is the first of its kind in the nation;uniting people, technology and knowledge to address the challengesof the 21st century. ETEC is the $180M research, instructional and entrepreneurial complex in which CEHC resides, providing our faculty state of the art laboratory and teaching spaces.
CEHC seeks applicants in the Information Sciences & Technology Department for a Lecturer in Game Design & Development (GDD).The candidate will teach game design and development courses whichmay include but are not limited to game programming, technical art,game technology, the business of games, game studies, UI/UX forgames, and game design. The candidate will provide service to the University and advise students and may also facilitategraduate/undergraduate interdisciplinary research projects;
leadclient-based projects; and help lead co-curricular activities.
The Lecturer of Game Design & Development will play a role in shaping the academic experiences of students in the GDD major andminor. The position offers an opportunity for a dynamic educatorand practitioner to contribute to a rich interdisciplinarycurriculum. Ideal candidates will bring a strong foundation in game design through their teaching or training program and demonstrate avision for contributing to the GDD program.
Functionaland Supervisory Relationships:
- Reports to Department Chair

- May supervise employees as assigned (if no direct reports attime of filling position)
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in game design &development in one or more areas which may include but not limitedto game programming, game art, game technology, the business of games, game studies, UI/UX for games, and game design.
- Create engaging undergraduate curriculum in game design &development in one or more areas such as game programming, gameart, game technology, the business of games, game studies, UI/UXfor games, and game design.
- Contribute to the development of curriculum of the GDDmajor/minor.
- Provide regular office hours for individualized academic advising and student support for students in the GDD program,including course planning, degree progression, and referrals to university support services to address academic challenges.
- Support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belongingrelative to their role in teaching, service, and building relationships within a diverse campus community.

- A MA, MS, MFA in Game Design & Development, Information Science, English, Animation, Computer Science, Engineering or Networking, or a closely related field from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by 8/20/2027. Candidates whowill not hold the degree by this date will not be considered.
- Three or more years of academic teaching or professional training experience.
- Two or more years of demonstrated experience with Unity, Unrealor other major game engine.
- An ongoing professional practice which includes any of the following: game or play-related work, commercial or indie game development or game-related asset production / technical art.
- Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in varying modalities (in-person, online, and/orhybrid).
- A terminal degree in Game design and development, Information Science, English, Animation, Computer Science, Engineering or Networking, or a closely related field from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
