Location: City of Albany

LOCATION: Adult Education Program – CTE Albany Campus @ 925B Watervliet-Shaker Road

SCHEDULE: Monday - Thursday up to 4.5 hours per day – schedule to be determined

BASIC FUNCTION:

Plumbing Technology course is a comprehensive hands‑on one‑year program designed to prepare students for entry level positions in the plumbing industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To teach the essential skills, including safety protocols, plumbing math and blueprint reading, while working with various piping materials such as plastic and copper.
  • Course will cover key plumbing systems such as drain, waste, and vent (DWV) systems, water distribution, soldering, threading and joining methods, and the installation of fixtures like sinks, faucets and toilets.
  • Students will also explore environmentally sustainable practices, including the use of PEX piping, grey water recycling systems and solar water heaters.
  • The curriculum emphasizes professionalism, plumbing codes and career readiness, culminating in a capstone project where students design, install and troubleshoot a small‑scale plumbing system.
  • To be responsible for developing and evaluating course plans.
  • To develop in each student an awareness and understanding coupled with the skills and knowledge in the industry.
  • Instill in all students safe work habits, the importance of lifelong learning and a work ethic that fosters reliability, competence, dependability and satisfaction with their own work.
  • SALARY:

    BOCES employee salary commensurate with experience and in accordance with contract language.

  • Two to four years of occupational work experience.
  • Hold an industry related credential.
  • Experience in providing instruction a plus.
  • Candidates will have demonstrated the ability to provide sound instruction, ability to work in a team environment, work collaboratively with staff and administration.
  • Possess good written and verbal skills.
  • The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint‑supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.
