Position Summary:

The Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is seeking applications for a full-time 10-months Educational Coordinator (EC) and Instructor in the Department of Allied Health Sciences to support the College’s MS in Cytotechnology and Molecular Cytology program.

Major

Duties & Responsibilities:

Instructor

• Assist in the preparation of lectures, laboratory activities, visual and technical aids, case studies and other pertinent instructional materials
• Deliver and facilitate lectures, laboratory sessions, discussions, and additional learning activities
• Direct learning activities to develop students’ slide screening skills and strengthen diagnostic accuracy.

Clinical Education Coordinator

• Coordinate student assignments to clinical affiliate locations.
• Ensure documentation of student evaluations, assessments and progression of clinical performance
• Ensure orientation to the program’s requirements with the personnel who supervise or instruct students at clinical sites

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Commitment to excellence in teaching and student development is essential
• Excellent communication (verbal/written), interpersonal skills, and organizational skills
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Adobe, Office 365, One Drive, and Zoom

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of a baccalaureate degree in Cytotechnology or a relevant discipline
• ASCP certification as a cytologist
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in cytology
• Be knowledgeable of the curriculum and be knowledgeable about the program’s evaluation of student learning and performance
• Ideal candidates will have a minimum of one year of teaching/clinical education experience, as well as experience with online/distance learning

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Additional Information:

This position is based in Albany, NY. The duties and responsibilities of this particular role require the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or interaction with our community, requiring all work to be performed full-time on-site. Standard work hours are from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM EST, Monday through Friday. Participation in occasional weekend or after hours academic events would be expected (one or two per semester).
