Job Description:The School of Education at the University at Albany, State University of New York is seeking a full-time tenure track
Assistant Professor in Literacy Education with an interest injoining a newly launched and growing undergraduate teacher preparation program. Literacy expertise may include areas such as comprehensive literacy instruction for early childhood/childhood,teaching multilingual learners, and/or language acquisition. Weseek candidates with a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in teacher preparation programs aswell as doctoral students. The successful applicant will engage with colleagues whose research interests and scholarship span pre-Kto post-graduate education and who prepare students to be innovative scholar-leaders.
- The candidate should be prepared to teach both introductory courses and advanced courses in their area of expertise. Duties will include teaching courses across undergraduate and graduate programs as needed based on candidate's expertise; publishing and obtaining funding to support research in their area of educational expertise; mentoring students; attending departmental and program meetings; and serving on department, school, and university committees.

- A Ph.D. or Ed.D in education, teaching and learning, curriculum and instruction, teacher education, literacy education, and/orrelated education area from a college or university accredited by aU.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by August 21, 2027. Candidates who willnot hold the degree by this date will not be considered.
- Active research program in literacy education, including areassuch as comprehensive literacy instruction for early childhood/childhood, teaching multilingual learners, and/or language acquisition as evidenced by scholarly and professional publications and/or presenting at regional and/or national professional conferences.
- Teaching certification in early childhood, childhood(elementary), literacy, bilingual education or English as a new language, or related area.
- Three or more years experience in a full-time classroom teaching in PK-12 settings.
- Experience in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate education courses.
- Demonstrated interest in personal ongoing professional development, incorporation of research to practice, and/or community engagement activities.
- Experience full-time classroom teaching specifically in U.S.public school contexts.
- Experience with teaching courses about comprehensive literacy instruction for early childhood/childhood, teaching multilingual learners, and/or language acquisition
- Experience seeking and/or securing research funding.
- Ability to teach courses across the School's teacher education majors.
