Overview
The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist works on desktop, server and mobile GIS applications and workflows.
Day-to-Day Tasks- Assist with developing, testing, implementing and maintaining desktop, server and mobile GIS applications and workflows
- Document spatial workflows, procedures, and applications
- Assist with the design, construction, management, and documentation of GIS datasets
- Assist with management of IT infrastructure that supports GIS platform
- Assist with mapping or analysis needs
- Respond to GIS service desk tickets
- Support NY State emergency response efforts.
IT Specialist – Works in the field of Information Technology, experienced in the usage and support of a collection of development platforms, technical architectures or business applications and products that run on those platforms - beyond that of a Programmer.
Expert – 84+ months:
Candidate is able to provide guidance to large teams and/or has extensive industry experience and is considered at the top of his/her field.
- 84 months of experience – Developing, implementing, testing, maintaining and enhancing new and existing geospatial applications from the Esri GIS server platforms that support visualization, analysis, mobile, and reporting solutions.
- 24 months of experience – Designing, installing, managing and administering multi-tier ArcGIS Enterprise environments (including ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Hosting and ArcGIS Data Store)
- 24 months experience – Developing and supporting service-based geoprocessing interfaces between Esri GIS environments and other applications.
- 60 months experience – Managing spatial data and developing workflows and applications from Esri enterprise spatial databases.
- 12 months experience – Linear Referencing practices and concepts as they relate to transportation applications.
