Senior Project Engineer – Building Structures, Albany, NY

KCI Technologies, Inc. is a 100% employee‑owned engineering, consulting and construction firm. We’re looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join our Building Structures practice in Albany. The role involves leading design, analysis, and construction administration for diverse building projects while mentoring junior staff and delivering client solutions.

• Lead structural design and analysis for new building projects (steel, concrete, masonry, timber).
• Perform condition assessments, investigations, and develop rehabilitation solutions for existing buildings.
• Serve as project engineer and task lead, managing scope, schedule and budget for structural deliverables.
• Develop and oversee construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Coordinate closely with architects, MEP engineers and other disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
• Perform and oversee QA/QC reviews to ensure technical accuracy and code compliance.
• Participate in client meetings, proposals and business development efforts.
• Support projects through construction administration, including site visits.
• Plan workloads and manage structural task budgets and schedules.
• Maintain and build strong client relationships.

• Experience with structural design, field investigations and client coordination.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and structural design software.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam/Adobe.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and technical writing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage tasks and deliver quality results on time.
• Working knowledge of building and design codes.

• Interest in mentoring and team development.
• NCEES registration and ability to obtain licensure in other states.
• Proficiency in RISA, RAM or similar structural design software.
• Structural Engineer (SE) license.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in structural engineering with field work and client interaction (buildings‑focused preferred).
• Proven experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring engineering projects.
• Proven experience as a technical lead with successful project delivery.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills, prioritizing tasks across multiple projects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients, team members and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to construction management, QA/QC and safety protocols.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and implementation of effective solutions in a fast‑paced environment.

Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)
