Job Title:
Project Engineer
Job Description
This Project Engineer role focuses on supporting construction projects within highly technical environments such as semiconductor or pharmaceutical facilities. You will begin with project documentation, calculations, and data entry, and as you demonstrate capability, your responsibilities will expand into coordination, 3D modeling, and broader construction management support. This position is ideal for someone who wants a long-term, stable assignment on a single site, is passionate about construction management rather than design, and is eager to grow their skills in construction project controls and Building Information Modeling.
Responsibilities
+ Support construction managers by receiving, logging, tracking, expediting, and distributing shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other construction project controls documentation.
+ Perform project documentation, calculations, and data entry, especially during the initial phase of the role, ensuring information is accurate, organized, and up to date.
+ Collect data, assemble, and distribute various weekly reports using the Building Information Modeling process, ensuring stakeholders receive timely and accurate information.
+ Assist with multi-trade coordination (structural, mechanical, electrical, process) using 3D modeling software, including Autodesk Navisworks Manage, to identify and resolve clashes.
+ Collaborate with design professionals to clarify design intent, resolve issues, and support coordinated project execution.
+ Prepare building sequence 3D models coordinated with the project schedule to visualize construction sequencing and support planning activities.
+ Develop presentation-quality 3D models for progress reporting and stakeholder updates.
+ Provide support in the review and tabulation of project data, drawings, and related documentation to aid decision-making and reporting.
+ Manage the tracking, reproduction, and distribution of all drawings, specifications, sketches, and revisions so that the field and project teams have the latest information.
+ Attend and participate in construction and other project-related meetings as required, contributing updates and technical input.
+ Take and issue meeting minutes as required, documenting decisions, action items, and responsibilities clearly and promptly.
+ Assist the field team in verifying component deliveries, work in place, and other site activities to support quality control and progress tracking.
+ Guide contractors and subcontractors in the use and implementation of project management and file management systems, as well as relevant software tools.
+ Support project managers and superintendents in file management, document control, and leveraging software capabilities to improve project efficiency.
+ Collaborate with the design and build team to help eliminate construction errors caused by design flaws, contributing to higher quality outcomes.
+ Work to reduce time and costs associated with potential errors and clashes by proactively using 3D modeling and coordination tools.
+ Assist project managers with scheduling, RFIs, submittals, and change order processes as part of the broader project engineering function.
Essential Skills
+ Experience or strong interest in construction management, with a focus on project engineering and field support rather than pure design.
+ Familiarity with construction management processes, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and scheduling.
+ Ability to support construction managers with documentation, logging, tracking, and distribution of project controls documentation.
+ Competence in collecting data, assembling, and distributing weekly project reports.
+ Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
+ Ability to work with 3D modeling and coordination tools such as Autodesk Navisworks Manage, or a willingness and aptitude to learn these tools.
+ Good organizational skills and attention to detail for managing drawings, specifications, and revisions.
+ Effective communication skills for coordinating with design professionals, contractors, and field teams.
+ Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a clear desire to build a career in construction management.
+ Capability to assist with verification of deliveries, work in place, and field activities in a live construction environment.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ Engineering or Construction Management degree, or a related technical degree, is highly preferred.
+ Any experience in semiconductor or pharmaceutical construction environments is a plus but not required.
+
Experience with Building Information Modeling processes, including tools such as Revit MEP or Fabrication CADmep, is a plus.
