Job Description
A leading structural steel fabricator and erector is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join its growing team. This individual will play a critical role in securing new business by preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial, industrial, manufacturing, institutional, and specialty steel projects.

Primary Responsibilities- Review project drawings, specifications, bid documents, and contract requirements
- Perform quantity takeoffs for structural steel and miscellaneous metals packages
- Solicit, evaluate, and analyze vendor and subcontractor quotations
- Prepare detailed cost estimates including material, labor, equipment, freight, erection, and subcontract costs
- Identify project risks, opportunities, and value‑engineering alternatives
- Coordinate with project managers, detailers, engineers, fabrication teams, and field operations during the bidding process
- Attend pre‑bid meetings and participate in project handoff meetings upon award
- Develop conceptual, budgetary, and hard‑bid estimates
- Prepare bid proposals and scope clarifications
- Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information
- Support business development efforts and cultivate relationships with general contractors, owners, and industry partners
- Experience estimating structural steel fabrication and erection projects
- Knowledge of structural steel and miscellaneous metals systems and construction practices
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
- Experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed project estimates
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and estimating software
Strong understanding of construction costs, labor productivity, and project scheduling - Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
- Knowledge of AISC standards and industry best practices preferred
- Base Salary: $100,000 - $130,000 DOE
