Construction Estimator ; Architectural - VID

Responsibilities

• Review and estimate construction costs for both new and rehabilitation projects.
• Manage and coordinate capital construction projects for client agencies from inception through completion.
• Insure that assigned program responsibilities or assigned projects meet client requirements and are completed within time limitations and funding allocations determined by the client.
• Manage and review contractor estimates for cost and completeness within established policies and guidelines.
• Perform a full range of supervisory duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Travel may be required (approximately 25%).
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle, or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
• Telecommuting:
  The Office of the General Services supports telecommuting where reasonable. Employees new to OGS D C will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial restriction, if duties and performance align, employees may telecommute up to 4 days per pay period.

  Qualifications:
  
  One year or more of qualifying service as a Construction Estimator 2.
• Four years of experience in preparing and reviewing building construction cost estimates and four additional years of experience in any combination of:
  • Assisting in architectural or engineering work
  • College study in architecture or engineering
  • Technical institute or two-year college study in applied science in a curriculum such as construction, highway technology, or pre-engineering
• Non-Competitive Promotion:
  If there are no more than three qualified candidates, the agency will request approval to fill via NCP. To be eligible, candidates must be current New York State Office of General Services employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service as a Construction Estimator 2 (Architectural) and must not have failed the two most recent exams.
• Applicants may be appointed to this position if currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title or are a current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a Construction Estimator 2 (Architectural).
