Job Description

You will work on an agile engineering team to develop and maintain radiation analysis methods and associated modeling and software tools used for shield design for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. You will engage with a broad cross section of NNPP experts to control radiation exposure through the life cycle of naval reactors. You will need to balance autonomy and interdependence to support the team in delivering high‑quality engineering analysis tools that enable the Shielding organization to successfully support the NNPP mission.

There is a strong team of trained personnel that will support you during your development as an expert in the radiation shielding field. You will be expected to seek out mentorship from experienced colleagues that are committed to your growth and development. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field
  • Currently an Advanced Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company
Preferred Skills
  • PhD degree in Nuclear Engineering or Nuclear Physics
  • Radiation modeling experience using combinatorial geometry or surfaces
  • Experience coding in Python computer language
  • A team player who knows how to ask for help when needed, to help teammates when possible, and build positive rapport with personnel

Pay Range

$86,100.00 - $ annually
