Duties Description The four positions are located in the Division of Environmental Remediation, Remedial Bureau A, Remedial Bureau B, Remedial Bureau C, and Remedial Bureau
D.
Remedial Bureaus A, B, and D:
The successful candidates will serve as a project manager overseeing state-funded and privately funded remedial programs at a variety of sites across New York State. Duties include management and oversight of investigation and remediation projects in various programs such as the inactive hazardous waste disposal site program (State Superfund), the Brownfield Cleanup Program, and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Corrective Action program.
Duties will include reviewing site documentation, workplans, and reports to assess compliance with New York State policies and regulations; interaction with remedial parties, property owners and the public; interaction with governmental agencies and municipal leadership; oversight of remediation sites, remedial consultants and contractors; review of site conditions and data to assess the nature and extent of site contamination; evaluation of remedial alternatives and remedy selection;
review of remedial designs and implementation of selected remedies; and monitoring of remedy effectiveness. The project manager is expected to manage multiple projects, while prioritizing workload and addressing all site technical and administrative needs.
Experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) - based software a plus. Additional duties will be discussed during interviews.
Remedial Bureau C:
The successful candidate will serve as a project manager overseeing state-funded and privately funded remedial programs at a variety of sites across New York State. Duties include project management in all project phases including site investigation and remediation for projects in programs such as the State Superfund (SSF) program, Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) program, and the Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) program.
MGP sites are located statewide, while the BCP and SSF sites are primarily located in Region
3. Duties will include the technical review of all site documents, including workplans, RI/FS reports, design documents, and reports to assess compliance with New York State policies and regulations; drafting factsheets, decision documents and records of decision; interaction with remedial parties, property owners, the public, governmental agencies and municipal leadership; oversight of remediation sites, remedial consultants and contractors; review of site conditions and data to assess the nature and extent of contamination;
