Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is currently seeking a Project Engineer – Buildings/Structural to join our team in Albany, NY! The position involves working alongside engineers and architects as part of a design team applying structural engineering principles toward the successful design of low to mid‑rise new construction projects, as well as evaluating existing structures for renovations or reuse.

Responsibilities
  • Independently apply knowledge of structural principles and practices in various assignments.
  • Prepare engineering calculations with the aid of computer software, spreadsheets, and hand calculation.
  • Create structural design plans and details in Revit.
  • Coordinate with architects, owners, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Design and review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Analyze and interpret data, formulate, and solve problems.
  • Provide direction to structural engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs.
  • Perform field investigations/site visits, as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis from an ABET accredited university;
    Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Experience in commercial, science & technology, educational, and municipal type building projects is preferred.
  • Minimum of 6‑10 years of related structural engineering experience required.
  • PE license is required.
  • Possess a basic/intermediate skill level and understanding of Revit with a willingness to progress toward an advanced level.
  • Ability to learn and apply technical skills and knowledge.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, principles, and practices in steel, concrete, wood, and masonry.
  • Ability to effectively perform as a key team member and role model to junior engineers.
  • Demonstrate advanced oral/written communication skills.
  • Possess a basic/intermediate understanding of structural engineering software such as RISA, RAM, TEKLA, TEDDS, etc. with a willingness to learn and become proficient.
  • Must be able to perform as a project engineer with limited guidance as well as interact and collaborate with multiple members of a design team.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job‑related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Compensation: $90,000 to $125,000 per year (depending on qualifications).
