Hours: Monday thru Friday 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (pass days Saturday / Sunday)

Competitive Minimum Qualifications (Non-NY Helps):

• Candidates must have a reachable score on the Plant Utilities Engineer 2 Exam List or
• Be a current NYS employee and have a current permanent appointment with 1 year of service as a Plant Utilities Engineer 2, or in a title eligible to transfer to Plant Utilities Engineer 2, or
• Be a former NYS employee eligible for reinstatement to the title of Plant Utilities Engineer 2.

Operating needs and responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing HVAC systems, boilers, and auxiliary equipment; performing preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment, including lubrication and repairs; troubleshooting and calibrating electronic and pneumatic control systems; performing supervised plumbing, electrical, and refrigeration work; operating boilerfeedwater pumps, boilers, and other central plant equipment; applying safety procedures such as arc flash and lockout/tagout; and the ability to perform the physical duties of the job, including lifting, moving in confined spaces, and working in loud/dirty environments.

Flexibility for shift work, as positions often require 24/7 coverage; experience with emergency response to plant or utility failures; and positive customer service skills to interact with the campus community and address problems.
