Opportunity

Stantec’s Albany, NY office has an immediate need for talented, team‑focused civil designers to work on roadway and/or bridge and culvert projects under the guidance of an engineer. You will utilize your knowledge and experience to contribute to a variety of projects from conceptual design through construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design roadways in accordance with AASHTO and NYSDOT specifications and CADD standards using Bentley Open Roads, Open Bridge, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Develop design plans and calculations, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Prepare engineering reports and technical studies such as design memos, feasibility studies, concept design reports, design exception reports, and preliminary engineering reports.
  • Perform field work and support construction‑phase services.
  • Work alongside experienced practitioners to expand your knowledge.
Capabilities and Credentials
  • Experience with Open Roads Designer, Open Bridge Designer, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office, Blue Beam, and Project Wise.
  • Understanding of civil engineering design concepts for grading, drainage, earthwork, roads, bridges, and culverts.
  • Strong communication, coordination, time‑management, and organizational skills.
  • Detail‑oriented and able to remain focused.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
Education and Experience
  • Civil engineering technician/technology diploma from a recognized community or technical college or the ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge from previous experience.
  • Five years of experience in engineering consulting or the construction industry.

Typical office environment involves extended computer use and sedentary work. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.

Pay

Range
  • Locations in MN, OH, VT, & Various CA, ME, NY, VA Areas – $77,300.00–$ annually

Pay transparency:
In compliance with pay‑transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus‑eligible. Full‑time and part‑time compensation is pro‑rated for part‑time roles.
