Electrical Designer / Drafter – MEP Engineering
A growing MEP consulting engineering firm is seeking an Electrical Designer / Drafter to join its collaborative engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience in electrical drafting, electrical system design, or MEP consulting engineering who is looking to take on meaningful project responsibility and continue developing their technical skills.
You'll work on a diverse range of commercial, healthcare, institutional, and other building projects, with exposure to the full design and construction lifecycle.
Job Duties:- Develop electrical construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit MEP
- Produce electrical plans, riser diagrams, single-line diagrams, schedules, and related drawings
- Assist with the design of lighting, power distribution, branch power, fire alarm, and life-safety systems
- Perform and assist with electrical calculations, including load calculations, voltage drop, and lighting layouts
- Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and structural disciplines
- Assist in ensuring designs comply with NEC, applicable codes, and project requirements
- Participate in BIM coordination and project design development
- Perform occasional site visits and existing-condition field verification
- Support projects through construction, including RFIs, submittals, and field coordination
- Approximately 2–8+ years of experience in electrical drafting, MEP electrical design, or electrical engineering
- Experience designing electrical systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, or similar building projects preferred
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit
- Working knowledge of electrical building systems, including power distribution, branch circuits, lighting, and related systems
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, CAD Drafting, or a related discipline preferred
- Equivalent relevant electrical design experience will also be considered**
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team
