A growing MEP consulting engineering firm in the Albany area is seeking to hire an experienced Electrical Engineer / Project Engineer to support and lead electrical design efforts for a diverse portfolio of commercial, institutional, and academic building projects.
This opportunity is open to engineers with approximately 5-10+ years of experience who have a strong background in electrical building systems design and are interested in taking on increasing responsibility in project coordination, technical leadership, client interaction, and construction administration.
Whether you're an experienced Electrical Design Engineer ready to take the next step or an established Project Engineer who still enjoys hands-on engineering, this role offers an opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility while continuing to grow professionally.
Responsibilities- Design electrical power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, and fire alarm systems
- Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and develop single-line diagrams
- Prepare construction documents, specifications, and technical reports
- Coordinate electrical design activities with mechanical, plumbing, architectural, and other multidisciplinary project teams
- Participate in project and client meetings and support technical coordination throughout the design process
- Ensure designs comply with NEC, IBC, and applicable local codes
- Support construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, and shop drawing review
- Coordinate with contractors, clients, and project stakeholders throughout construction
- Support project planning, scheduling, and overall technical execution
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers as responsibilities increase
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required
- Approximately 5-10+ years of electrical MEP/building design experience
- EIT or PE license preferred; candidates pursuing PE licensure will also be considered
- Experience using Revit and AutoCAD to develop construction documents
- Strong communication, project coordination, and technical documentation skills
- Ability to balance hands‑on engineering responsibilities with project and team coordination
