Job DescriptionGPI is seeking Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), and Structural Building Systems Engineering Interns for our Albany, NY office. Interns will participate in engineering analysis, design development, drafting, field investigations, report preparation, contractor submittal reviews, and site visits. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers on a variety of building systems projects, including commercial, institutional, industrial, and public sector facilities.
The ideal candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills and experience or coursework in building systems engineering. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or other building information modeling (BIM) software is preferred.
Our individualized internship program provides opportunities to gain exposure to multiple disciplines within building engineering, including mechanical HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing and fire protection design, and structural engineering. Each intern is paired with mentors.

Responsibilities- Assist with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural engineering analysis and design.
- Support the preparation of engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and technical reports.
- Develop drawings and models using AutoCAD, Revit, and other BIM/CADD software.
- Assist with load calculations, equipment selection, and system layouts.
- Participate in field investigations, site assessments, and construction observations.
- Review drawings under the supervision of senior engineering staff.
- Support project teams in developing design deliverables for review by licensed engineers.
- Perform assigned tasks in accordance with project schedules and budgets.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on a variety of building design projects.
- Assist with report writing, documentation, and project coordination activities.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
