SUNY Charter Schools Institute seeks a dynamic and experienced financial professional to provide leadership and direction to oversee the fiscal operations of its vast portfolio of 241 authorized charter schools across New York State. This involves gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to stakeholders and advising on progress and necessary actions.

Present findings, support recommendations, and respond to questions from SUNY Trustees, charter schools and boards and other parties at regularly scheduled Committee meetings, special hearings and other public meetings.

  • Guide the Institute's Digital Transformation efforts on financial and related school operation information to enable analysis, reporting and sharing to multiple audiences.
  • Build strong relationships across the statewide and national charter sector to identify and foster key partnerships to disseminate tools and best practices to support charter school boards and school leaders in operationalizing high quality financial oversight practices.

Prioritize and delegate recurring and ad‑hoc tasks and projects across the team throughout the school year based on renewal cohort, risk, capacity, and other factors. Provide training and ongoing feedback to staff to develop their analysis as well as writing skills to be able to contribute directly to public facing reports.
  • Oversee and lead the development of written guidance for charter school reporting of audits, financial management, facility reporting, and other compliance reporting requirements.
  • Direct all processes for review of proposed facility agreements/financing arrangements, including responding to questions from underwriters, rating agencies, bond holders, bond counsel, grantors, banks and other financial services providers.
